Search Engine Optimisation

Assisted Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (known as SEO) is really important if you want your website to appear in the “organic” search results of search engines like Google or Bing.  Each search engine looks for different things in a website.  They try to deliver a meaningful search result to their customers, so they all work in slightly different ways.

However there are specific things you should be doing with your website.   Giving it a fair chance of appearing on the search results pages for people who are actually looking for what you do.

The vast majority of websites aren’t doing those things.  Is yours one of them?

Assisted marketing will appraise the pages of your website and tell you what needs to be done to improve their position in searches made by people looking for what you do.  Here are some examples of common errors we’ve found:

  1. Essential description data is missing (“meta tags”, page titles and descriptions).
  2. Text is poorly formatted (it’s good to give the search engines a clue how you want a visitor to read a page – things like page and section headings, emphasising key points and so on.  It all helps).
  3. Text is poorly written – either it contains none of the keywords you really want to be listed for, is stuffed full of them or simply doesn’t make any sense (the words should be inspired by direct sales copy style – resist the temptation to show off with flowery copy.  Nobody will be impressed).
  4. Inadequate or poorly implemented use of pictures or videos.

there can be a lot more…

With assisted marketing, you can have your pages checked not just for search engine optimisation, but also for visitor optimisation:  Is the page genuinely useful?  Does it make sense?  Is it easy to read?  Is it immediately clear what you’re talking about?  Is the page immediately relevant to the visitor?  Does it tell a visitor what to do next?).  There’s no point in having a page that ranks position 1 on Google if visitors don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
